I need more dialog, I find when they go in to long narratives about the place or person I just skip it. When the book is mostly narrative I just can't finish them. I made it to page 70 when I gave up and just read the end.<br /><br />I can see why Candy would like this book, the author was a good writer. When the main character talked about her dad leaving and then he shot her. I had to reread that to make sure he did't really shoot her, that it was just how she felt. I felt I learned something while reading an interesting book. The only down side of this book was I felt she ended it abruptly. Which makes me think that when she is done telling the story she ends it. It is also nice to know that today once the children were taken into the system they would not have been returned as often as this family was returned.<br /><br />This books makes me thankful for the good people who try to provide a safe home for foster kids. Hopefully the small work I do with the foster care board will help ensure some children are never returned home to such abuse.<br /><br />It is important for people to write books like this so maybe we can work to fix the foster care system. She had admirable traits and was definitely flawed.
