I want to know what everyone is reading. Would you recommend it to your fellow book readers? I know we went over this in book club last week, but I didn't write anything down!
*The Scriptures - Yes I would recommend *The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (all the talk at Book Club got me wanting to read it again) - Totally recommend it!
The Playa in me considers these reference books and, sadly, read them when I'm not being loyal:
*1776 by David McCullough *21 Days Closer to Christ - Emily Freeman *Everyday Parents Raising Great Kids - James E. MacArthur, PH.D. *The Garden Guy - Dave Owens *Month by Month Gardening in the Desert Southwest - Mary Irish
I have many favorites, but here are a few:
*Austenland - Shannon Hale - I love anything having to do with Jane Austen. This book had me in stitches and since I've bought it, I've read it 3 times. *The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova - I love historical fiction and this one's about Dracula. It's very long, but it had me hooked from the very beginning. *The Island - Victoria Hislop - Again, historical fiction. This book tugged at all of my emotions. I loved the characters in this book and I learned a lot about leprosy.
Annell, I only keep one book on my nightstand--the rest of the books waiting to be read have to go in a drawer where I can't see them. If I have them all stacked up on my nightstand it makes me feel anxious--like I have unfinished chores or something. If I could go back in time and read anything again for the first time it would be: Thunderhead for adventure (Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child), Ill wind for cool, scientific stuff (watch out for the language), Tisha for a early American love story/adventure, and my favorite book of all time The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom. p.s. have you planted your garden yet? What are we supposed to plant right now?
Annell, I had to clear off my nightstand, all my books were due, but I like a lot of different types of books, it depends on my mood. I like mysteries, private eye types, cozy books, humorous, historical, etc. Everything except sci-fi. Some of my favorite authors are: Janet Evanovich, MC Beaton, Stuart Kaminski, Lorna Landvik, Sophie Kinsella, oh, there are too many to list, but you get the idea. Very different in writing styles. I can't even say what my favorite book is, cause I like so many.
On my nightstand: Scriptures (that's a book that stays there); The Monster of Florence by Douglas Preston. Its was interesting and informative but written in the Douglas Preston format! When Hitler Stole the Pink Rabbit. Its a kids book I am reading with my son. SAD!!
If I could choose a book to read over and over again it would be 2 actually. Thunderhead by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child and These Is My Words: The Diary of Sarah Agnes Prine by Nancy Turner.
Both of the books both different are my favs of all times. But then again, I read all the time and love escaping to wherever the author wants to take me!
