January Book Choice

BET ME by Jennifer Crusie-

Put on some fun shoes and enjoy!

"Min Dobbs knows that happily-ever-after is a fairy tale, especially with a man like Cal Morrisey, who asked her to dinner to win a bet. Cal Morrisey knows commitment is impossible, especially with a woman as cranky as Min Dobbs. When they say good-bye at the end of their evening, they cut their losses and agree never to see each other again.

But Fate has other plans, and it’s not long before Min and Cal are dealing with meddling friends, wedding cake, a jealous ex-boyfriend, Krispy Kremes, a determined psychologist, chaos theory, a frantic bride, Chicken Marsala, a mutant cat, snow globes, two Mothers-from-Hell, great shoes, and more risky propositions than either of them ever dreamed of including the biggest gamble of all--unconditional love."

***And picked in less than three days, bet you thought I couldn't do it!

I knew this book would have me laughing as soon as I read the first page. It was cute, easy to read, predictable at times, yet had me rolling from the quirky comments that sometimes I wish I could think of in the spur of the moment. It also made me want a Krispy Kreme Donut. Good pick Lucinda!

Interesting....It made me laugh and I liked Min's quick one-liners and how fiesty she was. The friends were all over the place. I'm not sure if I liked them very much. And the parents! Well....they makes my family look sane! It entertained me. Good pick!

I usually go to book club for three reasons.
1. To read books I never would pick up on my own.
2. To find new authors I want to read.
3. To hang out with my friends.
I would never read this book on my own, and I am pretty sure I won't read another one of her books unless someone at book club picks it.
Even Candy would let me say this book was way to predictable. There were not very many characters I even liked in this book. And I hated the last line of the book. No book needs to be that cheesy.
The redeeming value of this book was it was so fast to read that I surprised myself by reading the whole book. And no I didn't read the ending first.

I liked this book for the entertainment value it gave me. I started it at 8:30 at night and read until 2 am with my book light lying in bed next to Phil. At times I was laughing so hard I was afraid I would wake him up! I thought it was cheesy and predictable but I did enjoy the escape! I loved the sexual tension but could have done without the description of the act! LOL! I like the build up better! Surprising huh?
