Ella Enchanted
by
Gail Carson Levine
Synopsis
How can a fairy's blessing be such a curse? At her birth, Ella of Frell was given a foolish fairy's gift—the "gift" of obedience. Ella must obey any order given to her, whether it's hopping on one foot for a day or chopping off her own head! But strong-willed Ella does not tamely accept her fate. She goes on a quest, encountering ogres, giants, wicked stepsisters, fairy godmothers, and handsome princes, determined to break the curse—and live happily ever after. (from bn.com)

I was surprised to find out that I owned this book but had never read it. I had been told if you like the movie don't read the book or vice versa. I really like the movie and also enjoyed the book. Who doesn't like a Cinderella tale?
I was surprised at how different this book is from the movie. Don't get me wrong, I really liked it and I really like the movie. I'm a sucker for anything fairytaleish and this is a great, fun and magical read. I truly enjoy anything written by Gail Carson Levine.
