Candy's pick for December:
We Were Liars
A beautiful and distinguished family.
A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
True love.
The truth.
We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from National Book Award finalist and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart.

I wanted to like this book; however, I have a hard time reading a narrative. I need more dialog, I find when they go in to long narratives about the place or person I just skip it. When the book is mostly narrative I just can't finish them. I made it to page 70 when I gave up and just read the end.
I can see why Candy would like this book, the author was a good writer. When the main character talked about her dad leaving and then he shot her. I had to reread that to make sure he did't really shoot her, that it was just how she felt. The author wrote a lot like that and was very good at it.
I am sure the literary community loved this book.
Can anyone join your book club, or is it a closed club?
How does your book club work? Do the members take turns picking I assume the book of the month? I am an avid reader, and I would like to join a book club; I never have before.
