I think I enjoy having short stories as a book club book. You can pick and choose when and what to read. It also makes it so I never have to read the end of the book.

I didn't have a favorite quote but I did have a favorite story. I loved "Animals" and "The Tribal Rite of the Strombergs". Even though some of the stories had a little too much language I still enjoyed all of them with the exception of "Elf on the Shelf". That is one story I hope to never read again and would like to purge from my mind.

The bad thing about reading the book on a kindle is I never see the cover and the author's name. Which led me to not realize he was in a few stories until I read the reading group guide.

I enjoyed his twisted humor enough to read one of his other books in the future. Thanks Stephanie for showing me another author to read.

This was quite a different book than I expected, but I did like the length of the book and the short story format. I agree with Lauri about the "Elf on a Shelf" story. I wish I could unread it. I did like "The Tribal Rite of the Strommbergs" and "Upper East Side Ghosts". An interesting read.
